About ALAN ROSSITER PHOTOGRAPHY

Alan Rossiter was born in 1969 and lived in around Wexford, Ireland all of his life. Photography was never really an interest until a school teacher, Mr Griffin gave us in turn, a loan of a twin lens reflex camera to take a photograph of our home area. This first image was so good I didn't recognise it when it was first printed!

Photographs from a compact film camera on holidays still knock around at home but photography only really showed it's potential as a true pastime at the age of 18 with the purchase of the first SLR, a Nikon. Depth of Field was fascinating and a few rolls during the summer months were interesting, but difficult with a camera that was not understood. The purchase of the "replacement for still cameras", or a video camera, put pay to a short lived hobby but it never really went away.

Many years of competitive cycling and marriage with the resulting 3 sons all took more time and resources until late 2006 when a second hand Minolta x-500 came on the market and the bug bit. This was shortly followed by a DSLR, a SonyA100 with the accompanying range of lenses. An upgrade to a Sony A700 in October 2007 and the obsession that you can view the results of was born. Alan currently works as a company buyer in Wexford town and lives with his wife Cathy, sons Dean, Eoin & Stuart.

The next step is film and home development so watch this space...
